Pinus thunbergii – Black Pine – 46 cm
A Pinus thunbergii bonsai measuring 41.5 cm in height (excluding the pot) and with a trunk diameter of 1.5 cm. The plant is grown in a round, unglazed stoneware pot measuring Ø12xH4,5 cm.
A Pinus thunbergii bonsai, an evergreen conifer much prized in the art of bonsai for its elegant and vigorous form. It has sturdy needles arranged in pairs, of a deep green colour, which keep the plant compact and harmonious throughout the year. Over time, the bark thickens, taking on deep, dark hues and developing a rough texture that enhances the tree’s mature and distinctive character. Cultivated in the literati (Bunjin) style, it features a slender, sinuous trunk, shaped with soft, natural curves, reminiscent of trees grown in extreme environments, sculpted by wind and time. The foliage, gathered into a sparse and light crown, emphasises the sense of balance, lightness and harmony typical of the Bunjin style. Cultivated in a round, unglazed stoneware pot, it enhances the colour contrast and highlights the natural aesthetic of the bonsai.
